San Carlo
The history of San Carlo is old enough to do so origins go back in the Paleolithic era. Because of mineral deposits San Carlo has always had a human presence during the historical periods, from the Etruscans to the Romany settlements, until the Middle Ages with the establishment of the Rock of Bisemo. After the fall of Pisa, around 1500, the land passed under the Florentine power, and then the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. The structure of the country to modernize begins with the arrival of the Belgian Solvay and his interest for deposits of limestone in the area. With the transformation from manual work to the mechanical area had a decline in employment, with the consequent drop the town of San Carlo in favour of St. Vincent.
